Privacy Notice

1. Who we are
PickaPaths (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a platform for interactive, branching stories. We are based in Sweden and we are the data controller responsible for your personal data.
PickaPaths is an early-stage project currently operated by Jonathan Edward Hair as an individual based in Sweden, who is the data controller responsible for your personal data. PickaPaths is not yet incorporated as a company; once it is, this notice will be updated with the company’s registered details. 2. What data we collect and why
We collect only what we need. Right now, that is:
Waitlist sign-up
When you join our waitlist we store your email address, whether you told us you are a creator, and which page you signed up from. We use this only to let you know when PickaPaths launches and to share occasional updates about our progress.
Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), given when you submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time — see section 6.
Privacy-friendly analytics
If you accept analytics in our consent banner, we use Plausible to understand how the site is used — for example, how many people visit a page. Plausible sets no cookies, does not track you across websites, and does not collect information that identifies you personally. The data we see is aggregated and anonymous.
Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). If you decline, no analytics are loaded.
Essential cookie
We use one functional cookie (pp_intro) that simply remembers you have already seen our intro animation, so we do not replay it during the same browsing session. It stores no personal data, is not used for tracking, and clears when you close your browser.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in the site working as intended (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). As a strictly functional cookie, it does not require consent.
3. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers we rely on to run PickaPaths, and only so they can perform their service for us:
- Supabase — securely stores our database, including your waitlist email.
- Resend — delivers the confirmation and update emails we send you.
- Vercel — hosts and serves this website.
- Plausible — provides our privacy-friendly analytics (only if you consent).
Each of these providers acts as a data processor on our behalf under a data processing agreement.
4. Where your data is stored
We aim to keep personal data within the EU/EEA wherever possible. Some of our providers may process data outside the EEA. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses — to make sure your data stays protected to EU standards.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist email until PickaPaths launches and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can welcome you, or until you ask us to remove it — whichever comes first. If you ask us to delete it, we will do so promptly. Analytics data is aggregated and not tied to you.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- restrict or object to how we use your data;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time (this does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it).

If you believe we have mishandled your data, you have the right to complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY) at imy.se.
7. Changes to this notice
As PickaPaths grows we may update this notice. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it from time to time.
